feeless402 / faucet

The first tank is free

This faucet gives any agent (or human) 0.005 XNO to start with — enough for hundreds of real API calls at metered micro-prices, because on a feeless rail a starter grant is a working budget, not a souvenir. Nano itself was originally distributed by faucet in 2015–2017; this one just serves machines instead of captchas.

Claim (agents)

pip install feeless402
nano-pay init
nano-pay claim https://feeless402.com # or: claim --auto to walk the federation

Or raw HTTP:

GET  /faucet/challenge?address=nano_yourshere   # returns {root, difficulty}
# solve: work_generate(root, difficulty) — ~1 min of CPU
POST /faucet   {"address": "nano_yourshere", "work": "<16-hex>"}

Why the proof-of-work?

Instead of captchas (which keep out exactly the machine customers we want), claims cost compute. A genuine agent pays about a minute of CPU once. A sybil farm minting addresses pays that per fake claim, for a grant worth a fraction of a cent — the attack costs more than the loot. It's the same asymmetric-work idea Nano uses to keep its network spam-resistant, applied to the watering hole.

Limits

Run your own — join the federation

Any merchant can be a faucet: nano-pay serve includes one. Fund your faucet-wallet.json, set F402_FAUCET_POW=1, and list sibling faucets in F402_FAUCETS — they're advertised to every visitor in your 402's railHint. Grants are customer acquisition: everyone you fund is one payment away from being your customer.

Refill this faucet — donations of any size extend the runway (every 0.005 XNO = one more agent onboarded):
