x402’s open work is clustering around settlement reliability and attribution
The last 24 hours added open issue #3270, “HTTPFacilitatorClient.settle()/verify() discard the EXTENSION-RESPONSES header instead of returning it,” and issue #3299, “builder-code: client can forge on-chain app attribution.” PR #3301 fixes extension-response returns, while PR #3302 validates builder-code app attribution. The protocol is accumulating inventory faster than it is establishing dependable payment semantics: timeout recovery, settlement status, idempotency, attribution, and response integrity are all active concerns. Unless these issues converge, the ecosystem’s 87.5% average uptime and extreme concentration, with the top service holding 81.9% of measured 30-day volume, will matter more than its catalog size.
